Developing new lay leadership in the time between congregationally-called pastors is the fourth task facing the congregation and its interim pastor. Finding persons in the congregation who have a good grasp of the first three tasks (accepting the congregation’s history, developing a new vision for the congregation, and building a renewed, positive relationship with the synod) and who are enthusiastic about preparing for new pastoral leadership is key to the success of the call process.
